Bed + breakfasting at The Lost Kitchen

What a treat it is to be a guest at the Lost Kitchen - this time, for an overnight stay.

Erin and her team have built perhaps the dreamiest cabins in Maine. Designed simply and furnished throughout with Maine handicrafts, the cabins feel like a natural extension of the restaurant.

A short trail beyond the third cabin brings you over a brook, through a farm, and around the bend to the iconic Mill at Freedom Falls.

Visiting on a Sunday in the offseason meant planning ahead for dinner!

To visit the Lost Kitchen is to feel cared for. Every piece of the elaborate breakfast spread suggested a shortcut that could have been taken but, importantly, was not. The morning buns arrived still hot from oven. The soft-boiled eggs were gathered from Erin’s own hens. The beeswax candle flickered throughout the repast, and flowers bedecked every plate.
